Our customers include several individuals and reputed institutions and publishers in India. Among them are Sulekha New Media Pvt. Ltd., Indian Astrobiology Research Centre, URBZ (Geneva), Presspedia(Germany) and the Global Information Society Watch (Uruguay), besides others from a total of 9 countries. We have also partnered with several online magazines to provide print versions as in the case of Pratilipi (www.pratilipi.in). We have published books in various Indian languages such as Tamil, Marathi and Bengali, besides books in English. Unlike most POD publishers we provide books in both, hard cover and paperback formats, in any size.

We also provide an array of marketing services for our customers. These include listing of books on our own online bookstore (http://books.dogearsetc.com) as well as on indiaplaza.com and flipkart.com.

We also send out a bi-weekly newsletter, titled The Publisher's Post, covering events and news in the Indian book publishing industry. This initiative has helped our brand awareness considerably.

Why e-books might thrive

In his article, Mike Elgan lists six reasons why e-books might be the next best thing after all. On why people will prefer e-books, he says it will be because

1. The economy lends itself to "value-for-money" options such as the Kindle

2. People are becoming increasingly conscious of the environment an… Continue

Author Platforms

Among the many blogs I regularly visit, one is Joe Wikert's. The blog introduces me to new developments in the publishing world, albeit in the US, and, in a sense, allows us at CinnamonTeal a preview of what to expect here in India.

One post that recently caught my attention is this one. It features Joe's interview of Christina Katz, the author of a new book titled Get Known Before theContinue

Publishing in the new age

Times have changed and so has, it seems, publishing. There is a raging debate on whether publishing as we know it will die. Will e-books, Kindle and the Sony Reader take over? Is there time for physical books (now you have to specify which books you are referring to) nowadays?

Or are these discussions merely academic. In the "new age", the medium does not matter. Content is king. Napster showed that with music and the Kindle did it with books. People want good music and good books and will worr… Continue

Bookstores in the US going "Non-Returnable"

Like this story suggests, some bookstores in the US are experimenting with the idea of selling books on a non-returnable basis. In India, as I suspect is the case elsewhere too, books are stocked in bookstores on a consignment basis. That means there is no incentive for booksellers to actually sell the books. Along with large discounts, the concept of consignment-based purchases leaves publ… Continue

PS - While reading your profile, I noticed your mention of astrobiology.co I'm a keen student of this subject and wish to discuss this with Pushkar Ganesh Vaidya. I wonder if you might forward my e-mail address to Pushkar Ganesh Vaidya, as I'd very much like to initiate a dialogue :)
I'm utilizing principles that I see in this field, as I experience a shift in my narrative approaches in life. It's appearing to me that much of what we take as 'narrative structure' in the English language is a reflection of Empire-based thought translating the modality of an earlier dead empire. I wish to move past this into a deeper exploration of what lies elsewhere, away from the particular approach that Western Literature has, even in 'high' literary form, followed for far too long. I'm interested in a working alliance of scientists and artists - the world is changing and so is our consciousness.
